Starting the Master Cleanse

I have decided to chronicle my journey on the Master Cleanse as my first blog assignment. I hope that it will help curious minds learn a little more about this cleanse, and maybe even try it for themselves!

If you would like to know a little more about the Master cleanse, such as what it is and who invented it here is information from Wikipedia. The definition they give is as follows.

The Master Cleanse is a modified juice fast that permits no food. There are three parts to it. First thing each morning one drinks a quart of water with 2 teaspoons of salt or a cup of herbal laxative tea. This is followed by six to twelve lemonade drinks during the day and a cup of herbal laxative tea in the evening. The lemonade is made from purified or spring water, fresh squeezed lemon juice, organic maple syrup and cayenne pepper. The purpose is to detoxify the body and remove excess fat. It is done for a minimum of ten days.

The reason I'm doing this cleanse is not to loose weight, although that will be a nice side effect. The main reason i've decided to do it is because I have had trouble with acne for the past two years and nothing I have tried has worked, antibiotics, birth control, different cremes and regimens, nothing. Also I have been sluggish and tired this summer and am detoxing in hopes that it will bring me more energy so I can get the most out of my summer!

This is my first detox, so don't think you can't do one just because you haven't before.

I'm almost all the way through my entire first day of the Master Cleanse. I started off with a gentle laxative tea last night before bed, and another this morning since I couldn't get sea salt due to the closing of most grocery stores on the 4th. I've had my 6 glasses of lemonade and continue to drink whenever I'm hungry.

One thing I've found hard to remember is to drink a lot of water throughout the day. Since I'm drinking a lot of the lemonade constantly its hard to also drink water.

So far my mood is great! I've had lots of support from friends and family while starting this cleanse up so I'm feeling pretty powerful and like i can definitely conquer this challenge!

I recomend this book because it is small and can travel with you, and it has all the information you need to get started. Also, it is not expensive and my budget as a student requires that to be a factor!

I know these pictures aren't the best in the world but i wanted to be sure i posed some before and after shots of me so you can see the physical results as well! Sorry they aren't the best quality!

I think the thing i want to get rid of the most is that little belly that hangs over my pants when i sit down! I've never had it before and its so hard to get rid of. hopefully it works!

Tomorrow I will post pictures of my face, but i have makeup on now and want it to be as natural as possible.

Stay tuned to hear more about my 10 day journey on the Master Cleanse.
